*Arctostaphylos uva-ursi
‘Massachusetts’
bearberry

A recent introduction, this form of bearberry has a lot to offer. Very low growing with closely set narrow leaves along stems that root as it grows to eventually form a mat 6 - 10 ft. wide. Abundant pinkinsh-white flowers in the spring are followed by attractive bright red berries. This cultivar has shown good resistance to leaf spot and leaf gall. Requires good drainage with moderate summer water or some shading in hot inland areas. Where summers are cool less irrigation is required.
