Native to southwestern U.S. and California north to Montana. Tough and adaptable, surviving with minimal supplemental water in dry habitats such as woodland and grassland communities. With a bit more water becomes a nice evergreen mound 18 high x 2 ft. wide. Works well alone or in groups softening the difficult area under the "knees" of shrubs. Creates a nice bunch grass meadow effect when planted in mass where the slender blades gracefully bend over creating a permanent skirt that provides protective habitat for lizards and other small beneficials. Plant in sun to light shade with little to no summer water once established. Gopher and deer resistant.
