Vigorous climbing vine native to stream sides and washes where it scrambles up and over shrubs and trees. Broad, deep green, palmate leaves with lots of curly tendrils to attach itself and climb 9 - 20 ft. tall. Cream colored flowers are followed by ornamental fruits that are round with flexible prickles and are NOT edible. Dies back to what will become a huge rootstock each year. Sun to light shade, good drainage with some summer water.
