A Nevin Smith selection found growing in serpentine soil, fully exposed and considerably smaller than normal. Rather than the exuberant growth of the species, this selection is restrained, growing 6 - 10 ft. tall. The light green foliage has a grayish cast during the growing season often taking on red and orange tones in autumn. An attractive subject for trellis, fence or tree, or even as a bank cover. Sun or part shade, moderate water.
