A graceful, upright, shrubby sage with a pleasing scent, from the Sierra Madre Occidental region of Mexico. Grows 6 ft. tall by 4 ft. wide, but can be trimmed to stay smaller. Long blooming with fragrant, nectar rich, violet-lavender flowers that are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Plant in full sun to light shade with good drainage and moderate water. Somewhat drought tolerant, but best with watering at 10 day to 2 week intervals. Hardy to around 20 degrees, though a well established plant or one planted against a wall or protected spot can recover from bouts of cold. Because of its long bloom period and dependable nectar supply, this is a powerhouse for the habitat garden.
