juniper thyme
From the mountains of Greece comes this distinctive thyme with aromatic, gray, needle-like leaves. Forms a low mat under 6 inches tall and spreading 12 inches or so wide. Late spring brings a froth of rosy pink flowers, which are popular with the pollinators, especially honey bees. A sturdy, small scale, drought tolerant ground cover for well draining soils in full sun to light shade, accepting moderate to occasional irrigation. A natural for rock gardens, troughs or decorative containers, where it will spread and spill. Deer resistant.
